Our 300 cc O2 Absorbers may be used with the 10? x 16? Polyester Film (Mylar®) bags. We use one of the 300 cc O2 Absorbers at the top of each of the 10? x 16? Mylar® bags.
WHY WOULD I USE OXYGEN (O2) ABSORBERS?
Oxygen absorbers are used in packaging foods for long term storage to absorb the remaining oxygen in a container after it has been sealed. Using the O2 absorbers in a sealed container helps to ensure that the shelf life of the food is longer by keeping oxygen away from that food. Each oxygen absorber is a small packet that contains iron and which absorbs and holds oxygen.
WHAT DOES THE PINK DOT INDICATOR MEAN?
Each bag contains a pink dot that is used to help determine how much oxygen has been in contact with the bag. Each indicator begins pink and turns more and more blue with oxygen contact.
As oxygen absorbers are used from the bag, re-seal the bag so that the remaining oxygen absorbers will not activate and will be useable when the time comes to absorb oxygen in another bag. We use a FoodSaver® to re-seal the bag of oxygen absorbers.
