Measuring 23 5/8 inches long, this figured maple violin is stamped in the wood Albert Knorr on the inside and has a paper label, which reads ?Albert Knorr Markneukirchen, Made in Germany.
Copie of Guarnerius xxxx.? The lower bout measures 8 inches and the upper bout measure 6 5/8 inches.
From the nut down the ebony finger board measures 10 5/8 inches long and the overall length of the body, measured from the back, is 13 7/8 inches.
As you look at all the close-up photographs of this authentic Albert Knorr Violin, you?ll see it?s in wonderful, clean condition with its original surface. There are three easily restorable problems.
One is a 1 ½ inch long, very fine, not moving hairline, which starts just to the left of the ebony saddle. On the right hand pearling, in the middle of the center bout, is a piece of very old, white tape. This was not a repair, but something else, placed there by a past player/owner. This tape has dried hard and I am not going to try to remove it and I will guarantee that it is removable.
The final problem with this exceptional Violin is a loose sound peg, which I can sear rattling around on the inside.
The rest of this xxxx Albert Knorr 4/4 Violin is perfect and I cannot see any restorations. Along with this Violin comes a 29 1/4 inch octagon bow.
The bow is unsigned and there is wear to the surface, but it is in perfect condition. Lastly, this Violin comes with a hand carved wood ebonized chin rest and tail stock.
